Yesterday the seventh graders went to Discovery Village. There were many challenges that many people overcame throughout the day. The activities that we did were pottery, team building exercises, and a ropes course. However my group, only had time to do the ropes course and team building exercises.
When I saw the ropes course it looked like it was pretty high up, so that definitely made me and a few others nervous. Once it was my turn to go. My nerves started to kick in, but I just told myself to try it. Obstacle after obstacle, I began to gain confidence and started to feel less nervous. Before I knew it I was at the end. I was so glad that I had pushed myself to go on the first obstacle and that I had good friends around me who encouraged me.
Once we finished the ropes course we walked up to a ladder. We had to climb the ladder backwards, with safety gear. Then we had to climb up a long log that didn’t have a lot of handles. It was challenging, but I did it. After lunch we had team building games. My group started out with some games and then finished with cheering on fellow students in five pin bowling.
During the day yesterday at Discovery Village we all had lots of fun and overcame fears. We also learnt more about each other and the things around us.
