Sivanada Ashram Day 2
Today we had to wake up very early in the morning, it was not pleasant. Then after hot chocolate and cookies we went and got into our Ashram dress and headed to the Sivanada Ashram. There we met Swami Gobi Ji. He talked a lot and at times was not interesting. We then practiced yoga and I practiced surya namaskar. It was not first time I had practiced yoga and so fairly easy for me. Then we went and talked with Swami Amarita and she explained the Clean Himalaya Project. It was very thought provoking and I wondered how waste has become such a big issue in the last forty years. After we got on the bus to go home. The ride was a lot of fun because we had time to talk to friends. When we returned we changed out of our ashram dress into more comfortable clothing. At this time, we had breakfast and it was very nice to have cornflakes. Then we went to the Ashram again and met with Swami Gobi Ji. He talked for a long time and it was somewhat hard to pay attention. I almost fell asleep twice! It was really hard not to so I put water on my face.
Then went back to the hotel. We had spare time to take showers and eat lunch. After, we had individual journals in the rooms. I finished most of mine earlier so I was able to relax. Next we went to learn traditional Indian drumming and it was a lot of fun! For most people like me it was an opportunity to get some hands on experience drumming and was also my first time! I had a fun time. During the drumming session the weather became bad and it started pouring rain. We found out that we were not waterproof! When we returned to the hotel we changed into our Ashram outfits again and went to the yoga room to play charades. We focused on body language and communication. Before we left again for the Ashram we had hot chocolate and French fries. The hot chocolate helped wake me up. Waking up early in the morning is really hard and I needed the energy.
Then we went back to the Ashram to see the president, Swami Ji. He lead us through a meditation exercise that put most of the group to sleep! Some people had dreams during the exercise and it was really weird for a few of them because they all had the same dream! Before we left the president gave us cookies as a gift. We walked back to the hotel and we were followed by a dog that we feed cookies. After returning we had rest and showers. Dinner was really good. In conclusion the day was exhausting, but we did have new experiences and fun times.
