Today we made dog houses for CL week 3. It was a lot of fun. I really like using power tools and getting my hands dirty.
The group split into two groups, girls and boys. There are 6 boys, and 3 girls, however we both have the same amount of progress. I love my team, and we are super productive. So far we have two sides and the bottom. Our design is a square with a slanted top. The top has to be slanted so the rain water can run off. It is hard to make a slanted top, but Mr. Nicolas helped us get the angles correctly. We also have to loft our house off the ground with stones in each corner, so the bottom wont be water damaged. We are planning to paint it with dull colors.
Tomorrow we have three hours to work on it, so we should be able to finish construction, and then Thursday and we can paint. then we deliver the houses. I cant wait to see their faces when we deliver the houses!
Missing the first day of CL OnCampus was a huge blow for me, but I arrived at school ready to catch up and have tons of fun. I arrived in front of the pool to build the dog house. The team had cut 3 of the 6 boards already. We measured the entrance and our measurements were quite off. We then measured it correctly and fixed the door. I had lots of fun building the house and goofing off with my friends. I had a great time putting the dog house together. Doing this was a new experience for me because I had never built anything before.
Today was a great day for me. In the morning my group (dog house) went and interveiwed people. We had a little bit of an argument but we got over it. We had so much fun taking the interview of one person over and over and over again.
At 9:00 my group made its way to the pool to finish our dog houses. We arrived and drilled the top and the back onto the rest of the house. After we drilled it we took a break and started our paint party. We decided to paint the dog house a sky blue. We used paint rollers to paint our dog house. When we finished the first layer it looked awesome. We took a break while the paint was drying. After it dried we put our second layer of blue. We had an idea to mix white with the blue to make a cloud kind of look. We did it and it was great.
At the end our hands were pretty messy with paint. And this is not the kind of paint that was easy to take off. It was so hard to take off we had to put oil on our hands and then wash it. We looked back at our finished dog house and we were super proud.
We had our lunch and made our way back to homerooms for Fuel A Dream. We got to know how to get money for our campaign. We had a pretty fun time.
