So the day started off with some journaling in class! After that us, pottery group members, went on a field trip! It took about 15 minutes, and then we were there!
The place was a quaint little village and I found it lovely! They had a little nursery school and it was lovely too! Many parents send their kids there because the kids get free education, milk, and food! Did you know that in small villages like everyone has a holiday for the day before, the day after, and the big day? Well it's true!
After that our guide took us through the process of getting the clay, drying it, refining it, kneading it, and then to the final step of using it on the pottery wheel. Apparently, unless they place the clay exactly in the center, the wheel will not function properly! It was made like a massive fidget spinner! One wheel can cost up to 4,000 rupees! There is a little dent / hole where they stick a stick and spin the wheel! It kept on spinning for up to 20 Minutes! Now that's impressive!
Afterwards, we made our own pencil stand, pots, vases, or cups. It was really fun, but Akankash scraped his knee really bad, so a few people said that they wouldn't do it until Mr. Scott told them that they must, so they went.
I made a pencil stand! I think that everyone had fun! The potter also got out lots of necklaces, earrings, and jewelry sets! They were so beautiful! I loved them so I bought one of his simpler pieces. The sets cost 150 - 300 rupees, which, according to Ms. Lakshmi, is cheaper than in the market!
At the end, we all got on the bus and had our lunch while coming home! It was fun and we came to school early so we could visit everyone else's projects and journal! The free time was really fun!
I wonder what we'll do tomorrow!
Today started off with pottery on a board ; without a pottery wheel! Honestly, I think I preferred The pottery wheel! We made a pot with different techniques and a bird! I was very happy with what I did and I think he really took out mistakes from everyone's, including mine! I was very messy and monotonous.
