In this project we were supposed to build a musical instrument to sell and fundraise to provide a meal for underprivileged children in our neighborhood. We built drums. Mr. Boniface also did this last year and he said that the poor kids enjoyed the activity and left with a smile on their faces.
We put the wrapping around the drum that the grade 4 and 5’s had started by making this skin. At first I thought that wrapping the paper around the drum would be hard, but it turned out to be pretty easy. We were supposed to put the wrapping flat on the table, then roll the drum halfway. When we had finished that we had to tape the beginning part of the wrapping to the drum ( it was the hardest part), and then unroll the wrap. When we were finished with that we had to roll the wrap again as tight as possible this time to make it as smooth as possible.
The last step was to tape the wrap on more time and also do it on the inside of the drum. Nicolas and I finished 2 by the end of the hour. The project is still not done as the third graders have to put the skin on the top of the drums to make it beautiful.
