Today we went to Cytecare a cancer hospital. We are going to go there for two days, so that we get to explore and see the whole hospital. Cytecare is a hospital for people who are diagnosed with cancer, and there they are treated with different kinds of therapies. There are 4 different kinds of stages of cancer: 1, 2, 3, and 4. First and second stage is easy to cure, but if the stages are already third and fourth it is very hard to cure the patient.
The purpose of the hospital is that they said that they wanted to make a safer environment for people who are diagnosed and also the relatives of the patient, they are trying to make them as comfortable as possible.
My experience there was great. I had a lot of new information that entered my brain. The whole day was great as we saw different kinds of machines that do blood tests and they have different kinds of tubes to put the blood in to differentiate it?!?!
We had three essential questions:
What are your thoughts on your visit to Cytecare?
What can you do for those who are suffering from cancer?
How did you feel after visiting the hospital?
All these questions were supposed to give you ideas for the whole day of what to keep in mind and what to relate to what information they give while they are touring us around the hospital.
Today was a great day, but we still have one more days to go for this exploration for this great opportunity to see how the cancer hospital works and what it does. I will enjoy the next day as well,
Make sure whenever you have a patient that is diagnosed with cancer, bring them here. I guarantee you that you won't regret taking them here.👍
Today we went to Cytecare again. This time there were much more hands on activities. The doctors let us check our heart rate, oxygen level in the body and let some of us get an ultra sound on their hand or their abdomen. Just like yesterday, there was a lot of lecturing but it was okay. We were also provided with lunch there. The food there was not too good but also not too bad.
One of the things that I really liked, was the ultra sound as some of us got to try it, it was very cool to see our insides and our blood vessels on the screen. The doctor also told us that it is illegal to ask or reveal the babies gender as in India, girl babies are always aborted.
One of the things that I did not really enjoy was the fact that there were too many speeches. Some of the information was interesting while the rest were too complicated to understand. Some of us tried to take notes but ended sketching or drawing.
Something interesting in Cytecare was that in one of the underground scan rooms they had an awesome scenery so that when the patient looks up, he or she will not feel stressed. Another fact that blew my mind was that some animals and organisms cannot get cancer. Two of them are, sharks and amoeba. An amoeba cannot get cancer as it only has one cell and a shark cannot get cancer as it has some special genes in it.
The best part of the day was listening to a breast cancer survivor. She helps council the cancer patients. Her speech was very inspiring. Today all of us learnt a lot.
