Today we were preparing for our fundraising event at Alliance Francaise. We will exhibit our photography and digital storytelling videos.
On this day we went to meet the Sparsha students again, but this time there were a lot more of them. We were divided into two different groups which were photography and digital storytelling. I was in photography which was about telling the stories of Sparsha children through taking photos.
Me, Rishi, and Aryan taught the kids how to play games with cards and how to do easy magic tricks, which they were really excited about. We took some pictures of the students hanging on monkey bars, chilling with the goats and climbing trees. Some of them turned out to be liking this since they came up with the most random and funny poses which looked pretty cool.
On this day we went back to Sparsha to gather more information and record our Sparsha partners in order to create a digital story about them. First, we went and helped them practice their stories. Then each of them took turns recording their stories. We then needed to take multiple pictures and videos for our digital stories. This whole process actually made us find out a lot about our Sparsha partners and was very interesting for us and for them.
Each group brought their Sparsha partner lunch from our school and ate with them. They told us a lot during this time and most of them were very open and friendly. My Sparsha partner, Divakar, had a great interest in cricket and we played cricket with him and his friends. We took some great photos and videos and he seemed to be happiest during this time. Afterwards, he told me he liked my watch and asked me to bring him one on Monday. He seemed very interested in it, and I told him I'll try. He also seemed to enjoy playing football games on the iPad, but he preferred the cricket games, because cricket is one of his passions. He told us about how on his first day at Sparsha he saw a cricket match playing on the TV and how he loved playing cricket ever since.
At the end of the day we ended up with tons of photos and videos and the day felt pretty productive but also fun and interesting. We said bye to the Sparsha kids and that we look forward to meeting them again on Monday, at the fundraising event at Alliance Fraincaise.
